I am a Research Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, specializing in American political institutions, formal theory, and quantitative methods.
My research examines how, and to what extent, private interests use their resources to influence public policy. I also have an overarching interest in combining theoretical and empirical methods. In particular, I investigate how agenda setting and agenda control create methodological challenges for the empirical study of vote buying in legislatures. And in related lines of research, I examine the role of interest groups in elections, firms' returns to campaign contributions, and signaling in lobbying.
Prior to joining the Hoover Institution, I received my Ph.D. in political science from the University of Rochester.
